The University of the Streets Café creates gathering places for community members to pursue lifelong learning and engagement in the form of collective discussions. They are an opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds and realities to meet, where all people and perspectives are welcome.

About the discussion

The modern university is at a tipping point between its deepening role as a compliant servant to the status quo and its potential for transformative leadership on society’s challenges that are complex and difficult, yet urgent to address. What is required of universities beyond the excellence or research and the success of students?

Moderator: Lance Evoy is coordinator of Concordia University’s Institute in Management and Community Development. She is the former director of the McGill Centre for Research and Teaching on Women whose mandate is to foster feminist research and coordinate women’s studies program.
