Ces cafés permettent à des individus de divers horizons et réalités de se rencontrer, dans un cadre où tous les gens et toutes les perspectives sont les bienvenus.

The University of the Streets Café creates gathering places for community members to pursue lifelong learning and engagement in the form of collective discussions. They are an opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds and realities to meet, where all people and perspectives are welcome.

About the discussion

In this conversation we will explore, drawing on examples from various contexts, the independent vs. corporate dichotomy that is very much a part of many current art forms, drawing on examples from various contexts. We may also discuss topics such as the marketing of “cool” and artistic expression as a metaphor for ‘living outside the system.’.

Alex Megelas is a Montreal-based community organizer, a facilitator with the Center for Community Organisations (COCo), and currently works on cooperative housing development with the Living in St Raymond project. He is also an arts-entrepreneur and the founder of Grenadine Records.
