The University of the Streets Café creates gathering places for community members to pursue lifelong learning and engagement in the form of collective discussions. They are an opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds and realities to meet, where all people and perspectives are welcome.

About the discussion

Guest: Peter Brown’s teaching, research, and service are concerned with ethics, governance, and the protection of the environment. His appointments at McGill are in the School of Environment, the Department of Geography, and the Department of Natural Resource Sciences. He is also a professeur associé at the Institut des sciences de l’environnement at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal.

During this public conversation we will explore ways to re-conceptualize and reframe our current economic thinking: Can we imagine a way to reduce our impacts, reverse the devastation patterns and restore our ecosystem while nourishing a vibrant economy for all? Are we ready to embrace an economic view that meets this challenge in a fair way?
